Staging the Master Bedroom

With limited furniture in the room, the main bedroom is usually the easiest rooms in the house to stage. As with all rooms in the house, this one still needs care and diligence to detail.

Start off by eliminating the room of all clutter and your personal possessions, as well as giving it a good clean, before stepping back to decide what a potential purchaser is looking for in the room. Bedrooms should be neutral, snug, spacious and maybe even slightly romantic.

Making a room more neutral is usually accomplished by wall colors. Use impartial, tranquil light colors, like white, light tan or beige. Avoid colors that generate a statement such as yellow or orange. A couple different colour cushions arranged artfully on the bed are acceptable but try and keep the rest of the bedding neutral.

Spacious bedrooms allow people to move without restriction inside the room without any obstacles. Even in a tiny room, staging can help you to make the room seem larger than it actually is. Take out any furniture that is not needed and leave behind only the basic items such as the closet and the bed. Any marks on the carpet need to be cleaned and depressions from furniture removal need to be dealt with as well as making sure the door opens easily and the bed is away from the doorway.

Furthermore, you should use a king or queen size bed in most of the bedrooms, except in the tiniest ones where a double bed is more suitable. Make the bed look fantastic so that it attracts attention as it is the focal point of any bedroom. Invest in new bedding and even consider a new headboard, but unless you are very confident in your eye for style, consult with a professional stager before you go shopping.

Next you need to look at your closets, apart from a few pieces of clothing for decoration remove the rest of the clothing out. Use wooden or padded hangers in your closet, even though these can cost a little more, they give a nice impression.
